Overview

yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

The Bissel Proheat 2x Revolution Pet Pro, 1986 is a serious upright vacuum that is equipped with a powerful motor ready for the inevitable messes that pets leave behind. This is one of the 4 wet-dry vacuum cleaners that Bissell engineers purposely for people looking for the best vacuums for pet hair.

Similar to other models such as the Bissell Crosswave Pet Pro, the Revolution Pet Pro is a 2-in-1 cleaning device. It combines a sort of a carpet cleaner and a vacuum cleaner. It gracefully eliminates the need of seeking the services of professional carpet cleaners. This is one of the things that gives it a competitive edge when compared to non-Bissell vacuums that have the lowest price on Amazon.

The fact that it uses 2 brushes that run concurrently is an assurance that it will provide the best agitation to lift dirt and grime sitting deep in carpets and area rugs than most single brush models would.

Unboxing and Set-Up

Bissell does an outstanding job with this carpet cleaner’s packaging. The Pet Pro will ship nicely packaged in a large box and with a host of cleaning products.

One of the many things that we like is that this vacuum cleaner comes pretty much fully assembled. The only thing that you’ll need to do is “click-in” the main handle followed by the carry handle. Both of these should click into place without much effort.

The carry handle also requires to be screwed down using a screw that you’ll find taped on the main handle. This is something that pretty much anyone can do with a regular Philip screwdriver (not included).

What’s included in the box?

Compared to other Bissell dual function cleaners that we’ve reviewed at Spotlessmag.com, we were elated at the Bissel Proheat 2x Revolution parts included in this package. Here’s what you’ll get:

  • 2-in-1 pet upholstery tool– this is a versatile attachment tool that features soft rubber bristles that are safe for delicate upholstery. This tool has both dry and wet modes and a removable dirt container.
  • 3’’ tough stain tool– it has a 3-inch cleaning path. It’s ideal for combating stains and cleaning small spots.
  • Stain trapper tool– it uses brush bristles, a spray of mist, and a strong vacuum to break up and remove dirt.
  • Measuring jar– for measuring the cleaning solution.
  • 10ft Hose– for additional reach on upholstery, stairs, and in your car.
  • Nozzle cleaning tool– this helps in removing pet hair and debris caught in the nozzle/top brush cover. It also acts as a comb for removing pet hair entangled on the brush rolls.
  • 8oz Professional Pet Urine Eliminator plus Oxy– ideal for stinky pet urine stains.
  • 8oz Antibacterial Carpet Formula– fights odor-causing bacteria while cleaning.

Design and Construction Quality

The Bissell Proheat 2x Revolution Pet Pro upright vacuum is designed to allow deep carpet cleaning as well as quick pet cleanups. This basically means that you don’t need to get two separate units. It also means that it’s possible to give your carpets and area rugs a deep clean without getting professional cleaners to do that for you.

An incredible feature of the Pet Pro is that you can safely use it as a full-size vacuum cleaner in dry mode, and a carpet cleaner in wet mode. This is unlike some of its siblings that can only be used in wet mode.

As a complement to its dual function design, and an incredible highlight in this review, this device has a twin tank configuration. Although this is not unique to the Pet Pro, it’s an excellent way of enhancing its cleaning performance.

The Bissell 2x Revolution Pet Pro is powered by a 6.8amp, which is much larger than what the Bissell Crosswave Pet Pro uses. This makes a lot of sense considering that the Revolution Pet Pro rotates two cleaning brushes.

We are great fans of Bissell as far as construction quality is concerned. We feel that they always go the extra mile to ensure that they are giving you good value for your money with each unit. The Pet Pro generally feels solidly built. This is evident right from the handle to the huge sturdy wheels. As a sign of their confidence in this unit, Bissell goes ahead to back it up with a generous 5-year warranty. This is much longer than what we’ve seen on other units in our 2020 reviews.

Size and Weight

Upright vacuums are generally humongous. At least we can’t compare them with cordless handless vacuums. The Pet Pro has a height of 43.5’’, a width of 15’’, and a depth of 14.8’’. It’s quite sizable, but it falls within the standard size of most upright vacuum cleaners.

We can’t deny that it will occupy quite some space on your floors when not in use. All in all, it’s straightforward that it won’t take as much space as a separate vacuum cleaner and a carpet cleaner would take.

The Bissell Proheat 2x Revolution Pet Pro also has quite some heft to it at 19 pounds. This won’t be an issue when operating the device credit to its large wheels and easy maneuverability. Actually, this weight is almost unnoticeable when pushing it around from room to room. However, we can’t say the same if you’ll be lifting it over a flight of stairs often.

Bissell Proheat 2x Revolution Pet Pro Review: Key Features and Functions

Dual Cleaning Brushes for Twice the Agitation

The most standout feature in this review has to be the dual cleaning brushes that Bissell dubs Dual Dirt Lifter Power Brushes. This is a pair of roller brushes with an 11-inch cleaning path. Each of the brushes again has 12 rows of bristles that dig deep into the carpet to safely lift up the dirt sitting deep down while grooming the carpet at the same time.

This dual brush configuration means that the Pet Pro has twice the agitation that you’d get with most single-brush carpet cleaners that offer the lowest price on Amazon. Each of these brushes is rotated by a separate belt and are powered by a powerful 6.8-amp motor. This is one of the major reasons why the Pet Pro is so popular in the market today.

EZ Clean Brush Roll Cover

The thing with wet vacuum cleaners is that their brushes need to be cleaned after every deep cleaning cycle. This can be quite difficult if the brushes are hard to access, but that’s not the case with the Pet Pro.

The dual cleaning brushes of this device are safely protected by 2 clear covers, both of which easily pop off without the need for any tool.

The first cover (nozzle) can be easily removed single-handedly by pulling the purple tab straight up. This cover has a thin groove through which dirty water is sucked during the cleaning process.

Right after the first cover is another one. You’ll need your two hands to remove it, but it’s as easy as pressing down two push-down buttons.

Dual Cleaning modes

Another important function of the Pet Pro that gets reviewed a lot is its dual cleaning modes. When using this device as a carpet cleaner, a slide button on the left of the handle lets you choose between Express Clean and Deep Clean modes.

Deep clean mode

The deep clean mode is probably what you’ll need to start with if you have a carpet or area rug that requires a serious cleaning. This mode uses more water and a cleaning solution. It also renders a much deeper agitation, which is necessary for overly dusty carpets.

Due to the fact that this cleaning mode works by saturating your carpets, drying time may be a little longer. Current owners say that it takes 4-6 hours. Worth mentioning here, remember to vacuum your carpet first before doing a deep clean.

yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Express clean mode

This mode uses less water and agitation and doesn’t soak your carpets so much compared to deep cleaning. It’s useful when all your carpet wants is a light touch. Dry time is also incredibly reduced to around an hour. This makes this mode necessary when you want your carpets and area rugs clean and dry quickly.

The Bissel 2x Revolution Pet Pro upright vacuum is highly recommended for carpet cleaning. However, when used in its dry mode, it definitely makes the best vacuum for hardwood floors too.

Clean Shot Pretreater

This is yet another important feature that further justifies the Pet Pro as a pet-specific carpet cleaner. When you come across a tough stain or when your pet has an accident on the carpet, you can use the Clean Shot to soak that specific spot.

This function does not require power. It is activated by a foot-operated green button towards the back and on the right-hand side of the vacuum. When you press the button once, a spout at the front will continuously squirt a stream of clean water, throwing it a distance of 4-6 inches.

Once the spot has been soaked enough, press the button again to cut off the water jet and run the dual brush rolls over the area.

Utilizes Heatwave Technology

When deep-cleaning carpets, it’s important to use hot water to help in loosening and extracting grime, dirt, soil, debris, and allergens that may be lurking deep inside the carpets.

Most high-pressure carpet cleaners have a built-in heater/boiler that heats cold water before ejecting it into the carpets. Unfortunately, the Pet Pro does not have this vital feature. So, you’ll need to add hot water manually. This is one of the additions that we’d love to see in future updates.

To make up for that, though, this carpet cleaner has Bissell’s Heatwave technology. Basically, this technology works by keeping water warm throughout the cleaning session. This is much better compared to low-end competitors where the hot water gets cold as time passes by.

Maneuverability and Reach

As a corded upright vacuum cleaner, the Bissell Revolution Pet Pro may not give you the freedom that the best stick vacuums in 2020 offer. However, this carpet cleaner has several incredible features to ensure that you have an easy time.

Lengthy cord

Its 25ft cord is one of the longest that we’ve seen on a corded vacuum cleaner this year. The essence here is to ensure that you cover a wider area without having to change the power ports.

Long hose

This vacuum cleaner also has a 10ft hose- slightly longer than what the Bissell Proheat 2x Lift Off uses. This increases your reach as you vacuum and clean upholsteries and furniture.

Excellent maneuverability is another easily noticeable strength of Bissell vacuum cleaners, and the Pet Pro is not left out on this. Since most of the weight is based on the foot, pushing it around is a breeze, especially due to the large wheels. Also, the swiveling head makes maneuvering around furniture and objects much more manageable.

How to use the Bissel Proheat 2x Pet Pro (How it works)

If you’ve used an upright vacuum cleaner before, you won’t find anything strange with the Pet Pro. Let not its versatility intimidate you. Once you set it up;

  • You’ll begin by adding hot water and cleaning solution into the clean water tank. This is an easily removable 1-gallon reservoir that you can take to the sink for refills. You’ll also get a measuring cup that you’ll use to add the cleaning solution into the water. Position the water tank in its place.
  • Next, turn the vacuum cleaner ON by pressing the power button on the left-hand side of the handle.
  • Press the Recline Lever at the back to release the handle from its upright position.
  • Note that if you want to deep-clean your carpet, you’ll need to start by vacuuming it first. Dry vacuuming using the Pet Pro is easy. You only need to ensure that you don’t press the spray trigger located on the handle.
  • After vacuuming, you’ll then need to choose between Express Clean and Deep Clean modes using a purple switch on the right. Bissell recommends making one pass with the spray trigger held in and another pass back with the trigger released to engage the dry vacuum mode.
  • When cleaning upholstery and furniture, you’ll need to connect the hose to the foot then attach the ideal cleaning tool. For tools that support both wet and dry cleaning modes, there is a spray trigger on the hose that switches water supply ON and OFF.

Bissell Proheat 2x Revolution vs. Lift Off

The Lift Off is another very popular dry-wet carpet cleaner in Bissell’s Proheat family. This model has most of the features that we’ve seen in this Bissell Proheat 2x Revolution review, including dual brush rolls, heatwave technology, and an attachment hose. It also boasts a strong suction and incredible maneuverability.

The major difference between the 2 is that the Lift Off allows you to literally lift off its central unit and use it as a spot cleaner on stairs and inside your vehicle. On the downside, it’s notably heavier and comes with a slightly smaller hose. In addition, it comes with a 3-year warranty, which is two years short of the Pet Pro.

Bissell Proheat 2x Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Straightforward assembly and set up
  • Dual brushes for twice agitation
  • Incredible pet stain removal
  • Powerful suction
  • A breeze to use
Cons
  • It’s heavy
  • Quite loud
  • Cleaning brushes takes time

SpotlessMag Verdict

The Bissell Proheat 2x Revolution is a highly recommendable option for pet parents looking for a surefire way to deal with pet hair and fur on carpets. Its dual brush roll design is a guarantee of incredible agitation. Its 6.8-amp motor, on the other hand, assures the right amount of suction to deal with all sorts of pet messes.

It’s a little bit loud and cleaning its brushes after a deep cleaning session requires some effort, though. However, if you can deal with these two minor issues, this is a reasonably priced, powerful cleaner for your carpets.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I remove the Bissell Proheat 2x Revolution Pet Pro brushes?

To swap the brushes (or to replace the belts), you’ll need a Philips head screwdriver and a flathead screwdriver.

  • Begin by unplugging your machine and removing both water tanks.
  • Next, remove the nozzle and brush cover.
  • Lay the handle flat down by pressing the recline button.
  • Next, remove the belt access door, which is the left-wheel cover. Place the tip of your flathead screwdriver into a slot at the back and lift. It should slide up. Do the same at the front and remove the cover.
  • Lay the machine on its side. Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen a screw just below the wheel on the side of the belt access door. Remove the wheel by sliding it down.
  • Next, remove another screw that holds the brush roll end cap. Remove the cap and then pull the belts to detach them from the brush rolls.
  • Pull the brush rolls right up from their metallic posts. Be sure not to lose two small washers located at the end of the brush rolls. This is an ideal time to inspect the condition of the belts and replace if necessary.

How do I deal with Bissell Proheat 2x Revolution not spraying water on the floor?

If your machine is not spraying water to the brushes, first ensure that there is enough water in the clean water tank. If this isn’t the problem, remove the water reservoir and replace it, ensuring that it sits snug on its machine. This is necessary for proper water flow through the system. If the issue persists, you might want to contact Bissell or an authorized dealer near you.

How do you clean the Proheat Revolution Pet Pro?

With this vacuum cleaner, the main cleaning needs will be to remove pet hair, furs, and debris that get stuck in the nozzle (top cover) and on the brushes. Of course, you’ll also need to empty and clean the dirty water catcher.

yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

To clean the nozzle;

  • Start by switching the machine OFF and unplugging it from the power source.
  • Remove the nozzle by pulling its tab right up.
  • Insert the nozzle cleaning tool in the nozzle and push it around to remove any debris and pet hair. The nozzle tool is super flexible and slim and should go deep inside the nozzle.
  • Lastly, clean the nozzle in a sink and set it aside to dry before replacing it.

 To clean the brush rolls;

  • Start by removing the clear cover that follows the nozzle. To do this, you’ll need to press the two green tabs on either side of the cover. It should come right off.
  • Use the narrow side of the nozzle cleaning tool to comb out the pet hair and furs trapped on the bristles.
  • Clean the cover on the sink, too, and let it dry before replacing it.

How do I fix a Bissell Proheat 2x revolution not suctioning water?

If you are experiencing low or no suctioning at all, here are a few probable reasons and how to fix them;

Clogged nozzle

Pet hair, fur, and debris sucked may congest the nozzle, thereby leading to blockage. Use the nozzle cleaning tool to remove the debris.

Dirty water tank not sitting well

If the dirty water tank is not sitting well, it may block the suction port partially, thereby leading to low suction. Remove the container and clean its platform before replacing it. Make sure that it sits snug.

A stuck valve inside the dirty water tank

As the Proheat Pet Pro sucks dirty water, a valve inside the dirty water tank rises along a tube as more water gets inside the water. When the max level is reached, it will cut off the suctioning to prevent an overflow.

If you’ve emptied the dirty water tank and there’s no suctioning yet, it might be the overflow valve that is stuck on the cut-off position. This is often caused by debris stuck between the wall of the valve and that of the tube. If this is the case, insert the narrow end of the nozzle cleaning tool through the emptying spout of the dirty water tank and try to release the stuck valve.

Can I use other cleaning products from other brands other than Bissell?

While it’s possible, Bissell highly recommends using Bissell specified carpet cleaning products as they are purposely designed for optimum use with their machines.
